NEA Read Across America Day
Phi Kappa Omega Chapter participated in the annual Read Across America Day, established by the National Education Association (NEA), by hosting an afternoon with Dr. Seuss at Lavizzo Elementary School in Chicago, Illinois on March 2, 2018, chapter members gathered together with Pre-K students and teachers to learn about the history of Dr. Seuss, read some of the most well-known Dr. Seuss books, and participate in educational games. All student participants recited the “Reader’s Oath” and received certificates of achievement for their participation. Students also received Dr. Seuss books that were collected and donated by Phi Kappa Omega Chapter. Over 150 Dr. Seuss and children’s books were donated to Lavizzo Elementary School. Special thanks to the faculty and staff of Lavizzo Elementary School for partnering with PKO for this event. The Educational Enrichment Committee Chairman is Jennifer Henderson.
