Pink Goes Red for Heart Health Awareness
Phi Kappa Omega Chapter hosted its 2018 Pink Goes Red Community Impact Day on February 2, 2018. This event was open to the public and the chapter invited the community to Kwame Nkrumah Academy to enjoy two hours of heart healthy fun. Activities included line dancing, hands on CPR training, blood pressure screenings, and information regarding stroke and heart disease. Phi Kappa Omega members, along with attendees, learned line dances from Free2Dance as an alternative way to exercise. Complementary blood pressure screenings were provided by the Chicago Chapter of the National Black Nurses Association. Each attendee received a “Go Red” pin, a red AHA towel, a hands on CPR reminder card and a blood pressure brochure, all donated by The American Heart Association. The Health Committee Chairman is Michelle McClure.
